The reactions to the study were caused by the lack of information from the researchers when the study was started. Many of the staff members probably thought that this was like an unscheduled performance review and that they might be terminated. Additionally. Some of the staff members could have reacted because of anxiety over their work being reviewed which would make them nervous. 2. The reactions could have been predicted during the strategizing and planning of this change and alternative strategies should have been formed to compensate for these reactions. 3. Smith should start by having a meeting with the employees telling them the reason behind the changes and why they are doing the study. Smith can also implement some type of incentive for the employees and relay his knowledge and the skill level of the consultants in regards to making the necessary changes in order to put the employees’ minds at ease with the changes.
