trying to explain that society as a whole has learned to conform to social standards and change their behavior to fit in so they aren't so different from others, so as not to be the odd one out and when they see others behaving differently than themselves, or as the society that they're in, they're labeled as “weird” or “strange.” It is evident that social norms influence behavior and an individual's decisions are generally based on what friends and families say. Informing a prejudice , thus, one is guided by the decisions, attitudes, stereotypes and of course, prejudices of the group. Most people think that prejudice is a negative attitude but this is not true. According to Sternberg, and David G Myers. (2014) “Negative emotions nourish prejudice” (pg. 479) Prejudice refers to both positive and negative attitude. The growth of prejudice mostly depends upon the family members, societies, tradition, customs, myths, legends, stories, faiths, and beliefs. Usually, children get influenced by their parents and develop prejudices since a very young age and because of the traditional age-old prejudice of the parents running from generation to generation.
