The majority of those competitors are companies producing Chips and other snacks. Some of these competitors already existed in the market before Popular popcorn, so the company will face some challenges in competing those competitors. Below are some of examples of competitors: Doritos: Doritos is a high quality chips product and attractive long-lasting packaging which has aggressive brand name backing by Pepsi Company. It's under snack food segment that positioned as crunchy and party snack. It is international taste perception and flavor variants. Doritos is expanding globally in many countries and being popular in different markets. It is well distributed in the UAE market and available in different shops and retailers. Lays: Lays is snack food product which targeting segment of consumers who are youth, lower and middle income. Lays is being well known brand name and being supported by Pepsi as parent company with different advertisements. It has mature distribution system and 11 | P a g e
it also available in the local market of UAE with different alternatives such as healthy product Lays Forno. In addition, lays has local customers loyalty base. Cheetos: Cheetos is food snack segment as cheese based puffed snack with high quality image. The company is a brand backing by Pepsi Company. It is famous as cheesy with chili flavor snack, but it added more flavors to satisfy different customers' taste. Cheetos has different distribution channels and availability in local stores. It's eye-catching packaging due to marketing system through TV. Chips Oman: Chips Oman is an old popular chips in the local market with spicy flavor. It has mature distribution network and availability across the GCC market supported by Ali Shaihani Group which has good position in the GCC chips industry. Also, it is well known in the region with an image of popular old chips produced. It has different packaging and sizes to satisfy different customers' taste. Prospects Popular popcorn was successful to sustain its operations and contracts with business clients since 2011. Although it is a young company, its records shown that it was successful to gain and retain its business. There were a lot of investments and efforts which have been worked in order to retain the position of the company and enable it to compete others in the markets. The key strategic goal of Popular popcorn is to be the number one brand in the Middle East and Asia by achieving high brand reputation and awareness, building loyalty customers base and establishing a solid market presence for competition. This will be achieved by creating the Popular shop network (“Popular Retail Channel”) and by building a robust wholesale business.
