First, I think it’s important to address than at the beginning of pledgeship I noted that one of my main goals was to refine my public speaking skills. While I did take public speaking in high school and have my strengths, I am nowhere near being where I wanted to be in reference to my public speaking ability. Public speaking used to be one of my greatest fears, but I have tried to work through my fear and I am currently at a point where it scares me, but I am ready to refocus and try to improve myself because it's something I have learned I need and want to be good at for my professional development. Overall, I think this was a great and necessary opportunity to reflect on where I am at in terms of my public speaking ability. I believe that my work throughout the rest of the semester through activities like the case interview and market updates will help me improve my skills in some of the categories I pointed out through this reflection. (5) How specifically do you intend to get better at public speaking before your market update and case competition presentations? List specific steps you are going to take to improve your public speaking skills. These must be realistic, purposeful action items. 3

To get better at public speaking before my future public speaking PCT requirements, I will be aware of how I talk on an everyday basis to change the way I think about how I speak. If I think about not talking or talking at a variety of paces, I can practice these skills, so that by the market update or case competition I will definitely have improved my skills. As apart of being aware, I am going to ask my roommates and suitemates to be aware and call me out when I am uptalking or talking at a pace that is hard to follow. Since not only am I going to try to be aware of it, my friends will also help support my journey in trying to improve my public speaking skills. 4

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
