is used when she says “water is not thirsty”. Alliteration when she say “alone all alone” the word alone is quite repetitive in the poem to emphasize that nobody can be completely alone. The message of this poem is that nobody can survive on their own. Maya says that humans need companionship to live and be happy. It never specifies if it’s a man or a woman, it could be either. She says we are headed for a storm, representing a downfall because without the help and love of others we can't survive. Whether that companionship be by your friends, family, spouse, or even associates she is trying to express absolutely no one can make it out here alone everyone needs someone. People need other people in their lives in order to get by. As its pretty evident, money won't buy you happiness. Even the very, very rich get lonely. So, don't try to make more money, Make friends instead. The speaker molds herself into something like a prophet, warning the "race of man" that things aren't about to get any easier anytime soon. The solution is to realize that no one can make it on their own!
