ven though most nurses will likely prefer to pursue their education to DNP instead of PhD due to the
hands on aspect of obtaining a DNP, I think it will also be a good idea for more nurses to be
encouraged to pursue the PhD path due to the rapid changes in conditions of practice nowadays,
which may call for more research to result in evidence-based practice and avoid negative impacts on
safe delivery of care. For example, even though modern technology has greatly affected changes in
delivery of care, more research is still needed to validate some of the claims that the use of robots and
electronic devices can be trusted to deliver the same quality of patient care as human nurses. Thanks

NP and PhD both degrees demonstrate that nurse is an expert in her field. However, there are few differences. The
main difference is that a DNP is focused more on clinical practice, while a PhD is research-focused. Choosing which
degree path to take is based on the career goals of the nurse. MSN -prepared nurses practicing in an advanced role,
such as nurse practitioner would benefit from choosing DNP degree. On the other hand, who wish to get in to
research, education , or leadership would benefit from PhD degree. (Registered nursing .org, n.d.)
The educational curriculum for DNP and PhD nurses, is different too. DNP students must complete a capstone
project that involves identifying an issue in healthcare and proposing evidence-based solutions. The PhD curriculum
is more research-based. Students must complete an original research project and complete a dissertation which may
