Even there are funding and grant to support nurse PhD, still PhD is not as popular as DNP.Reference:Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF)--educators--and-transformat.html---Re: Topic 3 DQ 2ven though most nurses will likely prefer to pursue their education to DNP instead of PhD due to thehands on aspect of obtaining a DNP, I think it will also be a good idea for more nurses to beencouraged to pursue the PhD path due to the rapid changes in conditions of practice nowadays, which may call for more research to result in evidence-based practice and avoid negative impacts onsafe delivery of care. For example, even though modern technology has greatly affected changes indelivery of care, more research is still needed to validate some of the claims that the use of robots andelectronic devices can be trusted to deliver the same quality of patient care as human nurses. Thanksfor your post.
----I too enjoy interactions with patients and clinical practice. According to theNurse Journal, there are7 future job trends for nurse practitioners: there are a lack of primary care providers, nurses are beingrecognized as key members of health care, increased in primary care demand, increased demand forstaff in outpatient centers, more demand for nurse practitioners in underserved communities, higherdemand for academics, and increased need for specialized knowledge (2019). Nurse practitioners canchoose between many different specializations and it is important to consider the one you are mostinterested in since most areas will be in demand.Nursing Journal Staff (2019). 7 Future Job Trends for Nurse Practitioners.Nurse Journal: SocialCommunity for Nurses Worldwide.Retrieved from-job-trends-for-nurse-practitioners/Re: Topic 3 DQ 2NP and PhD both degrees demonstrate that nurse is an expert in her field. However, there are few differences. Themain difference is that a DNP is focused more on clinical practice, while a PhD is research-focused. Choosing whichdegree path to take is based on the career goals of the nurse. MSN -prepared nurses practicing in an advanced role, such as nurse practitioner would benefit from choosing DNP degree. On the other hand, who wish to get in toresearch, education , or leadership would benefit from PhD degree. (Registered nursing .org, n.d.)The educational curriculum for DNP and PhD nurses, is different too. DNP students must complete a capstoneproject that involves identifying an issue in healthcare and proposing evidence-based solutions. The PhD curriculumis more research-based. Students must complete an original research project and complete a dissertation which mayalso include teaching. The curriculum does not include patient care clinical hours. (Registered nursing .org, n.d.) DNPfocus on translating research evidence into nursing practice, healthcare policy ,and cultivating practice expertise. For
