Working with different people from differentcultures changes you as a person.This characteristic offers others the empowerment and courageto take on tasks they normally would not—specifically, followers.The ability to be in harmonywith my experiences and understanding others’ cultures, needs and situations, is a powerful toolin business and my personal life.More specifically, empathy allows me to utilize followers’strengths to the task’s advantage instead of giving them an assignment, which they may not beable to complete.This trait also allows me to be a better person as I am a balanced, well-roundedindividual.As I grow, I am better able to limit my judgement of others.This allows me to seethe greater good of people.Without vision I do not think anyone can really succeed in leadership.This mental visionis built upon goals, desires and ambitions.A leader who conducts business without a clear focusis in danger of moving in the wrong direction.Even with the right people doing what has beentasked of them, without a clear vision they will fail—not at the task but in business overall.Onday-to-day tasks, an effective holistic leader with vision has the ability to identify simpler andmore effective ways of doing business.For years we have heard the words synergize, eliminateduplicated efforts and prioritization.While these processes, at one point of our careers, may
AM I READY?9have been damaging personally, it cannot be denied these processes are effective in businessesbeing moving forward successfully with their deliverables.Recently, the organization I work forwent through major changes in leadership.Prior to the new leadership, I was trying to find myway and quickly realized the organization did not have an expert in the field I have been in forover twenty years—my vision led me to this and I made it known that they needed me and myunique expertise.With this clear mental image, at the first possible moment I showed them theyneeded my expertise.
