Isotonic - same in either solutions universal solvent - water because it dissolves all other polar substances. If blood becomes hypotonic (too much water) - cells will swell in brain, there is not  enough room for swelling, so this can be very dangerous.

Kidneys usually put glucose back into blood, however, people with diabetes mellitus -  have excess glucose. you can check urine for glucose to confirm if someone has diabetes  mellitus When we looked at sheeps blood - isotonic- equilibrium hypertonic - cells smaller less water spaced close together hypotonic - cells swell more water spaced far apart when we looked at dyes drops, green diffused more because - the particles must have  been smaller
