The firm has found a pricing arrangement that works and should continue to stick with that. This could also be due to the fact that the Android offers more customization than its competitors. The demand for the Android is inelastic, hardly changing with a small change in the price (Kotler & Keller, 2009). “The opportunity for selling Smartphones has grown as the replacement cycle for the average subscriber has accelerated to roughly a year, driven by product wear, subscribers switching carriers, upgrades as a subscriber’s contract expires and a demand for the latest features” (Palenchar, 2011, p. 52). Its competitor was found to be employing similar principles. Palenchar (2011) claimed AT&T was attempting to gain market share by allowing eligible existing customers to upgrade at new customer prices. Like, other mobile phones, Android could offer a buy one get one free deal and along with this promotion, Android could also offer a package deal of purchasing a case and car charger for a cheaper price then when someone would buy them separately. According to Segan, A big deal for those that talk on their phones a lot is that the Androids talk time is nine hours and forty-one minutes (2010). This is especially important because many people use their phones for business, which allows them to talk longer and charge their phone a little less than usual. Droids responsibility is to ensure that its customers can still socialize on their smartphones. Promotion The communication objectives appropriate for the Android are that every brand contact is positive for the Android consumer (Kotler & Keller, 2009). This means a positive feeling created by the Android marketing received in the mail and seen in the Verizon store, attractive employee attire in the Verizon store, a positive interaction during the Android purchase in the store, and a positive interaction over the phone when following up with customer service regarding billing or issues with the device. The promotional tools most effective in Verizon’s promotional mix are direct marketing such as the previously mentioned mailer. Sales promotions have also been proven to be successful as the mailer contained a limited-time offering of upgrading to the Android and receiving a gift card, rebate, in return. Being sure to offer exemplary customer service to existing customers should ensure some word-of-mouth marketing to successfully advance sales of the Android device. Personal selling via the Verizon sales representatives also prove to be most effective, in offering positive customer interaction during the Android purchase. (Kotler & Keller, 2009).
