The intent of this passage is to persuade film critics and theorists to contribute to an evolving body of knowledge with concept, instead of glossing over the history of how film is produced, manufactured, distributed and understood. I believe this same kind of emotion was shown to us in our alternative to Hollywood movies because we saw directors expressing more of a desire to create a standing culture for film. In No Country for Old Men we were given a contradictive story line and I think that many film critics and theorists appreciate the value this holds.
