5 Copyright 2015 EMC Corporation. All rights reserved. [email protected] addresses security and compliance concerns regarding data exposure when drives are removed or arrays are replaced. [email protected] uses Advanced Encryption Standard 256-bit encryption, and EMC is currently seeking approval for Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS) 140-2 certification. Random passwords are generated for the keystore file, which is encrypted and saved in a lockbox on the primary MMCS. Keys are stored in multiple locations within the array. No backdoor keys or passwords are available to bypass security in a [email protected] configuration. Physical Information Blocks on drives store encrypted information, including drive location information. Keys are verified during drive initialization to ensure end-to-end integrity. Stable System Values (SSVs) are used to ensure an MMCS’s lockbox can not be copied or accessed if lost or stolen. VMAX3 with HYPERMAX OS 5977 Q1 2015 SR Differences

6 Copyright 2015 EMC Corporation. All rights reserved. Certificate-based user authentication using X.509 certificates is supported on fresh installations Unisphere for VMAX 8.0.2. You can use a certificate issued by a trusted public third-part certificate authority (CA) to authenticate the identity when using the Unisphere for VMAX web client or REST API interfaces. The use of digital identity smartcards such as Common Access Card (CAC) and Personal Identity Verification (PIV) as part of a multi-factor authentication process is also supported. You can enable certificate-based authentication as part of the installation process. The choice is irreversible. The use of X.509 authentication requires import of root CA certificates into the Unisphere trust store. The procedure to import a client’s root certificate is documented in the EMC VMAX Family Security Guidelines found on . Also note that Unisphere for VMAX 8.0.2 will discover VMAX3 arrays running previous versions of HYPERMAX OS 5977. During the installation of Unisphere the installer will be given the opportunity to chose certificate based user authentication. This is the only time X.509 Certificate-based Client Authentication can be enabled. This is the screen the installer will see during the installation of Unisphere for VMAX 8.0.2. 7 Copyright 2015 EMC Corporation. All rights reserved. Service Level Objectives (SLOs) have been supported since Solutions Enabler 8.0 and HYPERMAX OS 5977. Previously all the attributes of the SLO were pre-configured and could not be changed. Now with the Q1 2015 SR and SE 8.0.2 the ability to change the SLO name is supported. Once a SLO is renamed all active management and reporting will be done using the user assigned name. The original base pre-configured SLO name will be maintained and will be visible to the user. In addition, the SLO name can be changed back to the base name.
