Running Head: MIDTERM EXAM 5 The difference between the concepts of centralization and decentralization refers to information technology application, management, administration, and delegation of functions. It shows us about the best practices of running a business or an organization, in the correct form. For instance, the educational institution in the example which counts with a high number of students would benefit from making t the choice that is best suitable to its needs. Centralization means that the authority, planning and decision-making process should reside in a predominant center of authority, management and planning with enough power to impart orders and guidelines to other departments and employees without too much disapproval from the others (Grosskopf, Hayes, Taylor, & 2015). The critical consideration is the usefulness of centralization to information technology since the framework of database technology is not in a separate work- model or distributed in different locations. The results disembark in better organization, and more, easy access to data. However, the main components of centralization cannot prevent the delays in the flow of data, and all types of information and the risk of an accident or disaster in the central office with the loss of vital information. Besides, it is difficult to take all decisions without delegating part of it to other offices.

However, the lack of leadership and vertical coordination is considered a major drawback for an effective decentralization process. The recommendation appears in the diagram is better to have both models, the centralization and decentralization approach are best suited in modern times, where fast decision-making and delegation of responsibilities are required to face the challenges of fast-growing information technology and technology advances.
