The ending of the story poses as an ironic tale because although Daru did what was right by the law, other people found it morally wrong in their eyes to point that they threatened him on the walls. This kind of irony can be situational irony and it contributes to the meaning of the story because it tackles on the relative issue of morals versus society’s laws and regulations.
