o Not so much dealing with external Circadian rhythm fashion o During the day your body temperature goes up o Just about the time you’re preparing to go to sleep your body temp  begins to go down o Set range Mechanisms of Controlling Body Temperature Poikilothermic – body temperature same as temperature of environment (fish,  amphibians, reptiles) Homoeothermic – constant body temperature that may not be the same as  environment (mammals & birds) o May be because of a need to regulate chemical reactions in the body –  temperature dependent so cant have wider temperature fluctuation Chemical reactions within the cells that are necessary for  normal function Temperature dependent, reaction speed Brain Mechanisms of Temperature Regulation
