think that’s a good tactic to lighten the mood and make the audience intrigued but I don’t think it
was necessary for her to laugh along with them. It just left an uncomfortable pause to her speech.
Russell seemed like she put a lot dedication and preparation on her speech because she
had a good performance. By the looks of it, the audience appeared to like her with how she made
them laugh and they were paying attention. There was the occasional clapping during her speech.
Unfortunately, I noticed though that she didn’t have a clear pattern of organization. She had the
five questions that she mentioned she would talk about in her beginning of her speech. Those
questions were not put into chronologically, topically, or in any of those five patterns of
organization.
For her conclusion, she kept it short but she did not state her main points. She said that if
there’s something that you can take away from her speech, it’s that image is power. Russell did
not use a tactic and she had to say “thank you” to let the audience know that she was done with
her speech. I also noticed that through her whole talk she didn’t really have that much
movement. She mainly stood in the same spot, only until she moved to demonstrate what she
does when they take pictures of her.
Cameron Russell’s speech consisted of a beginning, middle, and end. But many of the
methods and techniques that we were taught in class were not present in it. She lacked a lot of
them and could have used them to improve her talk.
