same equivalence as men (Dowler and Arai, 2008). Since the launch of the American Crime Fighting Force, law enforcement has faced difficulty preventing discrimination aimed at minority populations. Racially biased policing has been a concern within various police departments for many decades, discrimination and profiling centered on sexual orientation is developing as a new concern within the policing field. Specifically, the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community tends to be more at risk because of a heterosexist (prejudiced attitude or discriminatory practice aimed at homosexuals by heterosexuals (Dictionary.com, ND) and a gendered police subculture (Caspani, 2015). There still isn’t a federal provision which comprehensively bans discrimination based on actual or perceived sexual orientation and gender identity. Procedures must expand to discipline, and should make a distinction between explicit and implicit bias. Once a police officer displays a predisposition toward explicitly discriminatory behavior, the problem should be swiftly and realistically addressed by a supervisor, ideally supported by clear rules and regulations.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
