Avoidance: This strategy highlights the intent of the project team to modify the project management plan to avoid the adverse impact of the threat. For example, the Project team can decide not to implement a new solution that has not been tested until further information is available. Mitigation: This strategy highlights the intent of the project team to minimize or reduce the probability of the adverse impact if the risk event occurs. For example, the Project team could establish a integrated communication plan for various concurrent projects if resources are concerned about poor communication flow throughout the organization. Shift (Transference): This strategy highlights the intent of the project team to transfer the impact and ownership of the risk to another party. For example, the Project manager may hire a subcontractor to implement a new technology that the project team has no experience in using. The Project Risk Identification Form is created in the Planning Process Group. The Form is used to assess risks and help develop a mitigation strategy to address risks on the project. Risk Owners are assigned to each risk to help monitor the occurrence of risk events.
