Change Plan Chiefs of police have a hard career, and it may be even harder to cater to a diverse group of personalities. This same can also be true when trying to rebuild a department that is drenched with narcissistic leadership styles. Therefore, the chief of polices leadership skills most be very efficient and modified when needed. The first order of business as a newly appointed chief of police would be to evaluate each leader within the department. In a sense interview them and some of their subordinates to see what their normal work group relationship is like. From that point there would be a series of training and vetting going on with the implementation of new policies regarding the guiding principles of the department. The guiding principles would be trust honesty, integrity, and to just do the right thing at all times. Taking each member out of their comfort zone would be the next order of business. When people get too comfortable, they tend to get complacent. A new policy would be instated for a regular rotation unless work in that area has exceeded the expectations. Also, more promotions, opportunities for advancements, and recruitments. This will increase positivity, ensuring that everyone is allowed a chance to be seen or heard. The end goal in this change plan would be to incorporate covenant principles. When

NARCISSISTIC LEADER V. COVENANT LEADER Christmas 9 people are recognized as team players it makes them work a little bit harder. Everyone should be able to contribute and be happy about even the smallest contributions. Instead of looking at certain positions with disgust, they will seek pleasure in knowing they are contributing to the mission of the department. Lastly any problems and concerned will be addressed and dealt with in a timely manner. There should be no long-standing issues or complaints because this decreases the faith in the leadership. Before becoming an effective leader, one must first be an effective follower. By gaining an understanding of the process and the flow of the department, the goal of developing and ensuring leaders of the future will be attainable. Christian Perspective Leadership styles have been debated and will continue to be debated until the end of time. Many people should remember that without God nothing is possible, not even the success of a leader. Leader must first look within themselves and remember why they do what they do. Is it for their own profit, or is it to fulfill the purpose God has for their life? The bible states, “Give justice to the weak and the fatherless; maintain the right of the afflicted and the destitute Rescue the weak and the needy; deliver them from the hand of the wicked” (Psalm 82:3-4). Bad cannot drive out Bad, therefore corruption cannot police corruption. A leader must be good and pure before they can change corruption within a department. The characteristics of leadership that might be expected in any criminal justice organization are expected to uphold principles of honesty and integrity. A leader must lead by example, and act with honesty, integrity, and fairness
