case of there is a good of amount of invasion around the nerves, radiation therapy is recommended. Radiation therapy is also a recommendation for patients who are not fit for surgery. For superficial and low risk cancer patients, surgery is not the best option, specific creams, phototherapy and cryotherapy should be considered instead. Cancer melanoma is divided into stages based on size and how much the cancer is spread. If the mass is less than .75 mm wide the treatment is simply surgical removal. In stages 1A and 1B where the mass is .75-1.00 mm wide sentinel lymph mode biopsy will be discussed. For stage 2 treatment is surgical removal and sentinel lymph mode biopsy. If the biopsy comes back negative then just observe the area in the future and see the doctor if any concerning changes arise. If the biopsy is positive for cancer then it is considered Stage three. For stage three the recommended treatment is wide excision of the tumor and lymph mode dissection followed typically by observation, clinical trial or radiation. If the cancer cells have spread to the lymph channels of the skin treatment includes surgical tumor removal as well as local treatments and medication infusion or chemotherapy. There are two main types of skin cancer malignant melanoma and non- melanoma skin cancer. In malignant melanoma the cancer comes from the melanocytes. Melanocytes are the cells that give the skin it’s color.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
