Recommendation and Implementation
As discussed from the previous section,
The Market Stores
has strived to ensure the
company grows. However, it is undeniable that the problem of seasonality can draw back all the
efforts of the company in one way or the other. As already noted, seasonal changes deprive the
company’s local suppliers the ability to grow products all the year round. This compels the
company to import products from external suppliers who charger highly thereby affecting the
supply chain of the company. Therefore, this report recommends the need for the company to
embrace the strategy of growing crops in a controlled environment to ensure all-time production
of crops. Growing crops under a controlled environment require the adoption of the smart
agricultural system (AgriSys). This is an automated system with the ability to assess the
agricultural environment and restore adequacy (Abdullah, Enazi & Damaj, 2016). Such a system
can solve the general challenges of agriculture that arise environmental changes in temperature,
nutrient levels in the soil, humidity and so forth. Also, the system can help to solve
environmental conditions that prevail during summers such as low humidity, more dust, constant

winds, and high differences in both diurnal and seasonal temperatures. Thus, it is a strategy that
will highly solve the problem of product supply during off-season for
The Market Stores.
Towards the implementation of this strategy, the management at
The Market Stores
will
need to purchase the software first. Then the management will locate the pieces of land needed
for the production of crops. If they do not suffice, the company can lease more lands and avoid
purchasing as it would be costly compared to leasing. Locating the lands will require the
company to collaborate with the local producers as they are well-knowledged about the
surrounding. After land acquisition, the company will need to hire an expert to install the sensors
on the field where crops are to be grown and then connect the sensors to AgriSys software. The
sensors, also known as Phidgets will be responsible for detecting the optimum environmental
variables such as water, temperature, acidity levels in the soil, soil temperature etc. (Abdullah et
al., 2016). After the successful installation of the system, the company will need to purchase
farm inputs for its producers and initiate the planting. However, it would important for the
company to conduct a pilot test to test the efficiency of the software before applying it to large
tracts of land. This implies that the company might not implement this strategy that quickly, but
once implemented it will be an efficient way for the company to operate at low production costs,
with efficiency and the accuracy required to sustain the production of crops all year round.
Nonetheless, there is a possibility that the organization might fail to implement the
strategy successfully owing to different variables. The organization is testing a new technology
for the first and therefore, the management must ensure that the personnel hired for this task are
accurate and have high precision to ensure that the results obtained in the pilot test can be
successfully replicated for large tracts of land. This implies that the management should not risk
