In this lab, you will explore how VLAN membership affects device communications. Use the Exhibit for IP address and port interface information. 7.5.7 explore vlans You work as the IT Security Administrator for a small corporate network. You need to increase the security of the Networking Closet by implementing a CCTV system with IP cameras. As part of this task, you will separate the CCTV data traffic on the network using a separate VLAN on the switch. Perform the following tasks: Access the switch management console from CorpServer . Create a VLAN on the switch as follows: o Number (ID): 2 o Name: IPCameras o Ports: 13 , 14 , 15 , 16 In the Networking Closet and the Lobby: o Connect a Cat5e cable between the RJ-45 ports on the IP Camera and the IP Camera wall plate o Mount the IP camera on the wall plate. In the Networking Closet, connect a Cat5e cable between switch Port 16 and the open LAN port of the CorpServer (directly under the patch panel in the rack) In the IT Administration office, connect a Cat5e cable between the laptop's network port and the open port on the wall plate. On ITAdmin-Lap , confirm the VLAN configuration and IP camera installation as follows: o Run the following program: Start > All Programs > IP Cameras o Verify that the program detects the IP cameras on the VLAN 2 network. Be aware of the following: For an easier implementation, begin by creating the logical VLAN and then proceed to the physical connections of the IP cameras and the laptop. The patch panel connections for the Networking Closet, Lobby, and IT Administration office have already been installed and are ready for use.
A DHCP server is already configured to provide the IP cameras and the laptop in the IT Administration office with the correct TCP/IP settings.
