criticized but if a disaster occurs and they are not fully prepared, they couldbring the company to its knees. Difficult balance to juggle here.BillWilliam DempseyThread:Neubauer Question 14Post:Neubauer Question 14Author:Posted Date:February 4, 2016 9:27 PMStatus:Published 14.What is the bullwhip effect?Explain how it negatively impacts acompany. From the Internet, find an article discussing this.Briefly
2016). The article I found is titled: The Bullwhip Effect and Your Supply Chain . It focuses on the human factors behind the bullwhip effect, and how they are mostly related to fear. The main example the author uses is that of a person’s perception of the stock market, and being afraid to lose money or just be wrong about their decision making. Emotions, especially fear or anger, are not constructive parts of sound financial decisions (Misso, 2014). This is certainly true when the market takes a large loss and the sudden urge is to pull all of your money out. The second example comes from market timing. Even the best experts have not found a foolproof way to ensure they time their buying and selling with the flow of the market (Misso, 2014). If you were to Google a picture of the Dow Jones over the last 100 years, you would see all the ups and downs the market has exhibited over a century. The only true lesson about the market is that it will rise, and it will fall, over and over again. Key behaviors during hard times are to make sure your managers are making logical decisions and sticking to the business plan, and to take the opportunity to add some safety stock/inventory (not every piece that’s left on the planet) to ensure you’re getting a deal while the prices are low (Misso, 2014). Riding the wave, instead of trying to drive through it will pay off in the long run. References : Business Dictionary.com. (2016). Bullwhip Effect . Retrieved February 4, 2016 from Misso, B. (2014).
