all the way up to their career in law enforcement. Most found that usually it’s because of theofficer’s upbringing, and the feeling of dominancy and power, as to why they treat black malesthe way they do in a course of action. They view black males as predators that are unwanted insociety, as if they were dangerous. It is because of these tendencies, that black America is nowdefensive against law enforcement upon coming in contact.
Caldwell 7In conclusion, in agreeance to Charles Duhiggs notion of strong and weak ties in theBlack Lives Matter movement, I acknowledge the fact that it is because of the strong ties GeorgeZimmerman had with the justice system through his father, he was lucky enough to get acquittedof all second degree murder charges. It was unfortunate that Trayvon Martin was then convictedof his own murder, but this is because his ties were not as strong in the justice system, yet hissacrifice became unnoticed to three black sisters named Patrisse Cullors, Opal Tometi, and AliciaGarza as they came up with Black Lives Matter, as a call to action for Black societies. Althoughit challenges Duhiggs notion in a sense being that these three sisters and Martin had no existingties, it was because of Martins death which prompted these three sisters to devise a plan thatwould change the mindsets and hearts across nations. Black Lives Matter became more than justa hashtag as more and more people looked into this idea, and complied as they too have enduredenough of the harsh brutality of law enforcement. They then became inspired and took it uponthemselves to go about their feelings in an array of ways, as the reality of police brutality grewlarger such as protests, memes, articles, photographs, and more. It was because of TrayvonMartins sacrifice, that his ties grew stronger supporting Duhiggs idea of strong and weak ties.Though Martins ties may have not been active enough in the justice system, it became a lifestylein the hearts of the human race.

To this day, these three sisters have managed to create a massive socialmovement and change to society’s perception on discrimination, and the justice system.I found this source to be credible and interesting because it gives me an inside look on theBLM, and how it was originated. This website shows a series of stories and testimonies duringthe BLM, movement and how it has affected the lives of many.
