(After looking at my Resume)... Okay you have done some projects in supply chain management. Let’s have a case related to the area you are comfortable. Candidate:Ok Sir Interviewer:Our client is an automobile manufacturer and he is able to meet the demand of only 90 out of his 100 customers. Our client wants us to solve this problem. Candidate:Ok, Reiterated the problem statement. So my objective is to find out why our client is only able to satisfy the demand of 90 out of 100 customers, Is there any other objective I should take care of? Interviewer:No, that’s the only objective. Candidate:Sir, can I take a minute to jot down my thoughts? Interviewer:Sure. Candidate:Sir, can you tell me about the manufacturing capacity of client? Interviewer:Like? Candidate:Their productivity and other related capacity metrics Interviewer:Currently our client is running at 70% productivity level. Candidate:(Apart from asking more clarifying questions, I assumed that capacity is the problem). Since our productivity is at 70% we can increase the capacity either by enhancing the productivity level or by adding new capacity. Interviewer:Ok. (Didn’t interrupt)

Interviewer:Ok, but capacity is not a problem for our client. Our client is utilizing 70% of the existing capacity. Candidate:Ok, sir. (managed not to look frustrated) I would like to do value chain analysis for our client. Interviewer:Sure, Go ahead. Candidate:Since we are at 70% utilization level, it means that we can increase our production further. In that case it seems that there is no problem at the supply and manufacturing side of the value chain. Interviewer:Yes, go ahead. Candidate: That takes us to the distribution. Can you tell me more about the distribution network of our client? Interviewer: So, our client has plant at the central location. From there on the products moves to the 5 warehouses situated in east, west, central, north and south India. Further there are separate distributors in each state. Each distributor supplies to the retail outlets of their state. Candidate: Ok, our client has a standard supply chain network. Can you please tell me about the product portfolio of our client?
