Step 2: Professional Development Goals My personal goal is to create a positive impact in the lives of those I work with. My ultimate professional goal is to obtain my Master of Science in Nursing, Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner specialty (MSN-PMHNP) so I can be able to achieve my professional goal. Mental illness has been misunderstood in our society for a long time and less resources has been allocated in mental illness in comparison to other illness/diseases. It is my goal to create awareness and reduce stigma in the mentally ill people and their families as I render my services to them as a Psychiatric and Mental Health Practitioner. I purpose to advocate for the allocation of more funds in the prevention and treatment of psychiatric and mental illness in our society.

Step 3: Alignment with Social Change I am humbled with the opportunity to further my studies at Walden University. The University’s’ mission and vision statement has taught me on the importance of positively transforming the society for greater global good. My goal is to advocate for those who are suffering or affected by Psychiatric and Mental Health Illness by creating awareness, reduce stigma, and increase funding for research, prevention and treatment. A positive social change will be realized when the psychiatric and mental illness incidences trend down, and when those who are ill can operate, with treatment, in their optimal functional capacity. I will organize group sessions in churches, schools, colleges, and communities to give talks on Psychiatric and Mental illness, create awareness, and reduce stigma. I will educate them on drug abuse and how it can lead to mental illness. I will reach out to families living with psychiatric and mentally ill people and create support groups where
