In your own words, explain each of the BOC Codes of Professional Responsibility as if you were talking to someone who is unfamiliar with the code. - Patient responsibility: always give quality care to ANY patient, take care of them appropriately and keep them from harm, be clear, truthful and respectful when dealing with a patient. - Competency: always be professional and participate with quality care. - Professional Responsibility: always follow BOC standards, and work well with and respect other healthcare providers. - Research: conduct ethical research and report by standards established by the law, and always conduct research with the intention of improving the practice. - Social Responsibility: always use your skills responsibly to impact others. - Business Practices: don’t be fraudulent or deceptive and always maintain a professional demeanor. 4. Do Athletic Trainers need to comply with state laws & NATA regulations? Why or why not? Yes. It is in the Code of Professional Responsibility and the four principles of Athletic Training that all athletic trainers must act professionally and follow the law, as well as the rules of NATA. 5. In your own words, explain why Athletic Trainers should know and understand the BOC Standards of Professional Practice. How does this affect patient care? If a professional doesn’t know the standards they are working under, they might not do their job to the fullest extent
