Choose the SEE (Soil Series Extent Explorer) app. Enter the soil series name in the box for the soil you plan to adopt and press go. You will see a map of the extent of your soil. 2. Select the “ Soil Data Explorer ” located in the upper left corner next to the series name. Choose the “Lab Data” tab and scroll down to the bottom of the page to the table of “Pedons used in the lab summary” 3. This table contains a list of pedons that have been characterized by the Soil Survey National Lab. Select “Primary” report from one of the pedons in the table. Scroll through the data to see what is included in the database. You can shop around among the pedons on the list to find one you are most interested in adopting.

You can save the data on your computer as a text file or you can access the data via the web site each time. This is your adopted soil. You will refer to your adopted soil on several subsequent homework assignments.
