access to the computer, so you will have technology at your disposal. But make sure it is compatible with the system (hint: they are Mac computers).4.Delivery (80 points): Your delivery will be evaluated based on the following:1.Complete introduction (attention getter, thesis, preview)2.Clear and logical organization of speech (main points are distinct and flow well, use of transitions)3.Language is clear4.Oral citations are given5.Conclusion includes the summary statement and a “drop the mic” compelling ending6.Adherence to time limits7.Use of effective presentation skills (eye contact, posture, movement, vocal qualities, attire, use of visual aid)Time:This is a 4-6 minute speech and it WILL be timed. I will have a timer that will be going off at the different times (one for 4 minutes, one for 5 minutes, and one for 6 minutes). Once you hear that 6 minute sound, you have 15 seconds to wrap it up. If you do not conclude by 6 minutes and 30 seconds, I will raise my hand and cut you off. I grade based on quality of the speech more than if you made time or not. If you give me a phenomenal speech that was over 6 minutes, I will grade accordingly. However, the same applies in the reverse. If you give me a subpar speech that is over 6 minutes, then your grade will be affected. So please time your speeches!Attire:Dress neatly and professionally. You do not need a full business suit but something classy, like you would wear to a regular job interview. Nothing ripped or torn. NO RIPPED DENIM (better be nice denim) OR FLIP-FLOPS!! Thisis just for one day, so I’m sure you will survive. Examples: button up shirts, slacks, skirts, conservative dresses, polo shirts, ties (optional). Nothing that shows off too much skin. If you decide to use clothing as a visual aid, let me know beforehand.Note cards:You are allowed and encouraged to use index cards ONLY during your speech. Do not go up to the front of the class with full sheets of paper. I will deduct points from your total speech grade if you use anything but index cards during your speech (that includes your phone). Note that youhave the option of not using anything at all. Use your best judgment in choosing the size of your notecards (Recommended: 3x5). Tip: Number your notecards and write on one side of the card only. Condense your information into no more than 5 or 6 notecards. This will prevent you from fumbling your cards during your speech.
You must present on your assigned day unless in the case of a dire emergency (death in the family, accident, illness with proof, etc.). I will be creating the order for the informative speeches. You are allowed to switch with the consent of the other person and only within three days of the completion and distribution of the speaking order. After three days, the speaking order is set in stone. Note that the speaking order is reversed for persuasive speeches. The days we will be giving informative speeches are in
