hold a Master’s degree from a school that is accredited by either the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), or the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) (California Association for Nurse Practitioners, 2016). In Washington, in order to apply for a license one must have an active Washington RN license, provide official transcripts that must be submitted directly from the school, provide national certification, and graduate from an approved nurse practitioner program. In addition to this, the nurse must also answer a personal data question, and provide explanation for positive answers (Washington State Department of Health, 2016). For certification the following are approved in the state of Washington: AANP, ANCC, NCC, Pediatric Nursing Certification Board, AACN, and the Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation. For education, the nurse must complete an approved nurse practitioner program that is accredited by the CCNE or the ACEN (Advanced Registered Nurse Requirements in Washington, 2016). In Illinois, for applying for Licensure national certification must be completed from the following: AANP, ANCC, Pediatric Nurse Certification Board, the National Certification Corporation for Obstetric, Gynecologic, and Neonatal Nursing Specialties, and the Certification Board for Urologic Nurses and Associates as a Urologic Nurse Practitioner.
