ATIENZA, WARREN E. CE 297 – TZZQ ENGINEERING MANAGEMENT 6.) Are ACME’s business goals clear? Yes. Their goal was to race in the development of the new WiMAX- compatible products. These products would provide next-generation, high- throughput broadband connections over long distances. Medical companies planned to use this to lower the cost of transmitting medical images by eliminating the need for cabling, which provided enormous flexibility and efficiency for medical institutes to transmit patient images. 7.) How was ACME going to design and develop the WiMAX ? Their initial plan was to produce products the buyers can chose – combining both modem and radio function or sperate boards with radio and modem function. In addition, the had chosen the U.S. Company over Taiwan supplier. Then, nine months into the project, the CEO decided to redesign their products using the supply for the Taiwanese Company instead of the U.S. Partner, believing the Taiwanese company had a lead over the U.S. Company in general. Also, the CEO informed the team to have new product architecture that would call for separating radio and modem functionality into unique circuit boards. The CEO wanted the new circuit board designs completed in two months.
