Behold, I have refined you, but not as silver; I
have tried you in the furnace of affliction.
11
For my own
sake, for my own sake, I do it, for how should my name be
profaned? My glory I will not give to another.
- Properly belongs to Him. This is good for us.
-Human Jealousy is Idolatry = spiritual adultery
-A love so pure,passionate, protective, and forceful, it tolerates no rival love.
- It is right for God to guard His own glory.
- We are properly His
- There is nothing we have He is trying to get back
- God's Jealousy derives from fullness
Is this Good news?
If God is jealous, does that make him a sinner?

Wrath: God’s intense hatred and judgment of all sin
Wrath: A functional Expression of God’s Holiness
Holiness —> Sin —> Wrath
Similarly

2 Thessalonians 1:5-9

This is evidence of the righteous
judgment of God, that you may be considered worthy of the
kingdom of God, for which you are also suffering-

indeed God considers it just to repay with affliction those
who afflict you,

and to grant relief to you who are
afflicted as well as to us, when the Lord Jesus is revealed
from heaven with his mighty angels

in flaming fire,
inflicting vengeance on those who do not know God and on
those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus.

will suffer the punishment of eternal destruction, away
from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of his

how you turned to God from idols to serve the living and

1) God’s wrath reveals the true horror of sin.
2) God’s wrath reveals the true glory of the cross.

Omnipotence : God is able to perform anything consistent with his
will and nature.

Nebuchadnezzar, lifted my eyes to heaven, and my reason
returned to me, and I blessed the Most High, and praised
and honored him who lives forever, for his dominion is an
everlasting dominion, and his kingdom endures from
generation to generation;

are accounted as nothing, and he does according to his will
among the host of heaven and among the inhabitants of the
