love for each other was real. They were both willing to sacrifice their prized possession so that they can buy gifts for Christmas. The author relates Jim and Della to the magi by stating that the magi are two wise men that invented the idea of exchanging gifts for Christmas. The act of showing love instead of valuing material make them wise. In today’s world, having expensive items makes it seem like you are living the correct way but one thing money cannot buy is love. Henry did an amazing job showing how two people love each other with Jim and Della. The fact that they both are not wealthy individuals but are willing to sacrifice something that is important to them shows how strong love can actually be. It is easy to relate to this story because everyone has done something that they essentially did not want to do to show that they loved somebody. It is a part of life.
