Combining with symptoms and his vital signs, this patient may get diverticulitis. Diverticulitis typically manifests as abdominal pain, fever. Some patients also have the symptoms of constipation or diarrhea (Solomon& Young-Fadok, 2018, p. 1637). Recommendation: The patient has severe abdominal pain and fever, the current problems may include abdominal infection, anxiety and severe pain. The most important goal is helping the patient to relieve severe pain. I suggest the first step of the following treatment is managing pain. Pain is an important consideration in all health care situation. Clinically, serious adverse outcomes could cause by poorly uncontrolled acute pain (Crisp et al., 2017, p.1319-1321). Severe acute pain is strongly risked to patients and even could lead to chronic pain syndrome, early analgesic administration to patients with acute abdominal pain is safe and necessary (Chong, Schultz& Donnelly, 2019, p.798). For the next step, palpating the abdomen and make sure the accurate area of pain could identity the patient’s health status better. Situation: I am a nursing student and taking a health assessment course this semester. During the week 11 practical class, I did a role play of health assessment with one classmate, his name is Parth. My role was a nurse and his role was a male patient with severe abdominal pain. Task: I was asked to assess a patient in 30 minutes and search relevant resources to finish my report of the health assessment process and results, including my findings and reflect on using assessment techniques. Action: I did the primary survey, general survey and pain assessment during the process of health assessment. I did eye contact with my patient and asked questions patiently to make sure the health assessment could go smoothly. During the process of measuring his vital signs, I used a tympanic thermometer,

blood pressure monitor, oximetry. Reflection: I used verbal communication skill when we did the health assessment. However, I didn’t use various non-verbal communication skills at that time.
