improve and develop many different concepts. The field of nursing is no
different in that, many new tools have been implemented in order to expand
knowledge and better

as a whole.The potential for nursing
informatics to enhance nursing practice, study clinical problem solving and
ultimately improve the quality of care has been a long standing expectation

, 2014). As the times progress it is
imparitive
that the tools, studies, and
knowledge that we gain continue to transcend and catapult nursing into a
new spectrum of care.
The nursing arena is expected to provide a safe, competent and
compassionate caring atmosphere. Advance technology has created an
environment through the use of informatics that enhances patient care.
Nursing informatics has a three model part which includes basic computer
competencies, information literacy and information management (Tiger
Initiative, 2009). The Tiger informatics competency was developed to

recommend core areas of understanding for informatics. As an educator, an
area of improvement is creating spreadsheets. This weakness has become a
minor setback, especially, when needed to demonstrate the facility’s data
comparison in facility Quality Improvement meetings. The plan of action
requires additional training and hands on sessions to ensure understanding and
literacy. The information literacy relies on understanding computer technology.
