But, on the other hand, the industry is slowly changing focus to a “patient= consumer” mindset (GWU School of Business, n.d.). In turn, this leaves providers to succeed and bring in more business by marketing their services, which was not common in the past. Positive Impacts There are many positive ways that entrepreneurship has affected the healthcare industry. One positive attribute is how entrepreneurship is moving healthcare forward in better directions. Most pay structure models are starting to reward providers for the quality of services they provide, rather than the quantity as per past pay models. This in turn changes how providers are treating their patients and leaning more towards preventative measures. Entrepreneurs in the healthcare industry are taking advantage of this change by introducing things such as fitness apps and “fit-bit” type wearable technologies. This creates a whole new market in the industry that is not regulated by most other health equipment guidelines and insurance companies. The increasing reliance on technology in healthcare, especially for patient records is another plus for entrepreneurs. These entrepreneurs are exposing and correcting issues in the traditional
