One topic that seems to have stuck with me since it was covered in the course is mental disorders. Even though it was only covered last week, mental disorders interested me so much I did hours of outside research on them. I even read parts of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (DSM). Learning the scientific method, the structure of the brain, memory, as well as, the theories and perspectives involved in psychology was interesting, but mental disorders grabbed my attention. Coming into this course, I had no idea of how many classifications of mental disorders there were. What interested me about mental disorders was how they are diagnosed. Learning about mental disorders has had an effect on my life. I now understand some of the behaviors I have seen in the past. I also have a clearer understanding of depression and anxiety. I do not have a disorder, but I can become depressed and I feel anxiety at times. A

clearer understanding of depression and anxiety seems to have a diminishing effect even on normal depression and anxiety. Mental disorders held my interest, but the effort required to create a PowerPoint presentation on both memory and forgetting at the same time will stick with me for a long time. It is not easy to exercise your memory when thinking about how the brain forgets.
