did 50 years ago. Weather is just one way that our planet is being affected by pollution and climate change. We as a people, must change the amount of emissions that we expel into our atmosphere. Finding smarter ways to increase agricultural production and population sprawl, that will not harm our ecosystems, is a must. We are on track to leave our planet in a dire state for our children and grandchildren. The U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) collects, analyzes, and disseminates independent and impartial energy information to promote sound policymaking, efficient markets, and public understanding of energy and its interaction with the economy and the environment. In a report from 2018, the EIA reported on how greenhouse gases effect climate. One of my biggest takeaways from the report is this: "Human influence has been detected in warming of the atmosphere and the ocean, in changes in the global water cycle, in reductions in snow and ice, in global mean sea level rise, and in changes in some climate extremes. It is extremely likely that human influence has been the dominant cause of the observed warming since the mid-20th century (EIA, 2018).” I understand that with technology for agriculture and manufacturing advancing all the time, we could certainly find better ways that wouldn’t harm our planet. rose an estimated 3.4 percent in 2018, according to new research — a jarring increase that comes as scientists say the world needs to be aggressively cutting its emissions to avoid the most devastating effects of climate change. Rising emissions are not just a U.S. problem. Global emissions also reached a record high in 2018, and the increase in the United States goes hand in hand with rising emissions in other countries, such as China and India, said Michael Mehling, deputy director of the Center for Energy and Environmental Policy Research at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (Mooney, 2019).
