A steam objects works with a string. Cout takes a stream as directed by the arrows. Arrows are stream insertion operators Endl- steam manipulator (changes flow) here it ends the line being pinted Escape characters manipulate stream input- placed in the quotes. Pg 35 Variable names are named storage locations on the ram Defining variables- says what typenit is but does not alway assign value to it. More than one varible can be defined at once Different types for different things. Also differing sizes pg44 data types Initialize- the use of an assignment operator to assign value A literal is a value defined in the source code Decimals are stored into the computer in scientific notation Ints can only take whole numbers Chars are stores as number in the computer and can be input as numbers and compared ad numbers Null terminators - internally placed at the end of strings to indicate their end String is a class that must be #included Class 8.27 Boolean - one byte 01 yes or no C is the base language for most operating systems. Also attach functions % and operator to return remainder C writes compiles and executes

Java often translates/complies to other languages before executing Code: Cout (console out) << - prints strings Class 8.29 - Code - Std = standard, Return 0 indicates that the code made it to that point << - Directs the infor cout<<”this info to console out”; Cin >> “take this info in”; Why Program- to get the computer to do as instructed. Let the machine do thinking and processing.
