While poorly represented in an array of digital media, Hispanic culture is often
represented in a positive light throughout academic sources. An article published by National
Geographic proudly displays the title How Latinos Are Shaping America's Future". Even the title
of the article in itself has to give some hope that not all media ridiculously stereotypes and bases
Hispanic culture. A common theme among journal articles and other various forms of written
media is the celebration of the rich history and closeness of family rooted in Hispanic culture.
Academic research shows an overwhelming amount of support for the basic principle of
communication and family in which Hispanic culture is rooted.
"The rapid development of new media has been the main force accelerating the trend of
globalization in human society during the last few decades. With its distinctive and unique
nature, new media has brought human interaction and society to a highly interconnected and
complex level" (Chen). Mass media has had an astronomical effect on intercultural perceptions
and communication. Many develop untrue stereotypes of Hispanic culture based on the
information presented in digital productions created by the United States. These stereotypes hold
a place in the minds of individuals that forever impact the way they communicate with and react
to those from Hispanic culture. While mass media has done a great deal of good for society, it
has also brought numerous injustices to how intercultural relationship exists.
Hispanic culture is a beautiful culture. It is full of authentic people, rich history, effective
communication, exotic food, and promotes strong family bonds. Although poorly presented in
many forms of media—especially that of American films—the Hispanic culture continues to
grow and thrive and make its way to become relevant in areas of the world in which it has never

been fully accepted. Mass media plays a significant role in the lives of the majority of people
