Christian Bailey Ms. Turbee ENC 1102 2/1/18 his grandchildren grow up so much that he would constantly think about them and he noticed different signs that signaled that he made a mistake in not being in his grandchildren's lives. This short story shows that parents and their children have different types of conflicts. In this case, it was about marriage. In the short story "Everyday Use" you can clearly see the relationships between two daughters and their mother. Maggie and her mother got along really well; Maggie ended up being successful and she was always on the right path in life. Nothing bad was ever said about Maggie. On the other hand, another type of mother-daughter relationship was being depicted in this short story. The writer explains, "On TV mother and child embrace and smile into each other's faces. Sometimes the mother and father weep, the child wraps them in her arms and leans across the table to tell how she would not have made it without their help." (Walker, 1).
