Tabebuia Pentaphylla was a very useful plant as the bark was found to be anti-cancer; while the timber are used in construction and furniture, boat building and carts. Among the various active phytochemicals in the tree is lapachol, a natural organic compound isolated from various other Tabebuia species. Chemically, it is a derivative of naphthoquinone, related to vitamin K. Once studied as a possible treatment for some types of cancer, lapachol's potential is now considered low due to its toxic side effects. Lapachol also has antimalarial and antipanasomal effects.

The major threats of this species are recessive extraction of tree, medicinal properties and its extensive using without control. This plants are reducing in population due to human activities such as illegal logging, deforestation and more. Besides, this plants need full sun for its growth. In conservation efforts of this species, this plant are used as a shade tree or street tree; beside, pollinated by the insects and plant the plants in botanical garden as the flowers are likey as the sakura flower.
