employees are looking for more than just competitive salary. They want good health insurance benefits and access to wellness programs and health clubs. It is important to for employers to think about employees holistically as they want to have good work life balance, flexible schedules, and the ability to grow within organizations. They want to be rewarded for a job well done with pay increases, market reviews, and vacation time that increases with seniority. Those employers that realize employees are their best commodity and invest in them will see large returns when it comes to loyalty and longevity. This actually decreases expenses in recruitment and retraining costs. The subject we were least comfortable with is how employee demographics influence total reward programs. The employer really needs to know the demographics and what those employees are looking for in a total rewards program. It could be that the organization has a large population of employees that will be retiring in the next five years. Those employees are going to be interested in retirement savings, benefits, and how they will be able to make ends meet after retirement. If you have a younger generation of employees they might be looking to grow and advance in the organization so career development and tuition assistance might be the attractive rewards to them. It is
