entering a new year. After the show I made my way to some of the food booths. Surprisingly, they sold a lot of festival type food such as fries, nachos, and hot dogs. I knew that I could get these things at a local snowball stand so Is went for something authentic. I had Thit Bo Nurong, which was kind of the equivalent to a kabob. I finished it off with some a dessert called mochi. It is made with sticky rice and filled with ice cream. While sitting down after eating my food I found somebody who I would be able to talk to about the culture and some words for other people looking in. It was just my luck that I ran into a former co-worker Stephanie and her family out celebrating. I asked her family “If you could say one thing to people getting to know and learn the culture what would it be?” her mother replied that she was happy to be able to celebrate he culture with people who was new to what was going on. Going into this fest, I was very closed minded and scared, but leaving out I was glad I went. I learned so much stuff that I went in not knowing. I learned to be more accepting and secure with who I am. I was happy that I didn’t let my fears of not knowing hold me back. This generated
