Gaear. In the end, Gaear’s decision to send Carl through the wood chipper broke the second formulation because he lied and there was no consent from Carl to be treated that way. Care ethics deal with love and caring from those close to you or those in you “inner circle” Nel Noddings breaks care ethics into two categories, natural care and ethical care. Natural care the “I must” feeling when caring for others. “In situations where we act on behalf of the other because we want to do so, we are acting in accord with natural caring. A mother’s caretaking efforts in behalf of her child are not usually considered ethical but natural.” (285) On the other hand, ethical care is the “I ought” feeling when caring for others. Now a second sentiment is required if I am to behave as one-caring. I care about myself as one-caring and, although I do not care naturally for the person who has asked something of me- at least not for that moment- I feel the genuine moral sentiment, the “I ought,” that sensibility to which I have committed myself.” (287) Jerry’s relationship with his son, his wife, and his father-in-law are not very strong. Nel Nddings would say Jerry is the worst person in the movie because he lacks any type of care

ethics. Jerry seems to have no concern for his son, Scotty throughout the entire movie. His son is often scared and troubled because his mother was kidnapped and Jerry does not comfort Scotty at all. He actually uses Scotty to tell his mothers friends she is out of the house. This is the opposite of any type of natural care a father is supposed to have for his son. When Jerry decided to have his wife kidnapped he did not consider the effects it would have on his “inner circle” and only thought about how it would help himself. By displaying no natural care towards his wife, Jerry is eventually the cause of his wife’s death. Jerry did not think about anyone’s best interest besides his own. The feeling of “I must” never entered his mind even though Noddings says it is the best part of us. In the movie, Jerry tries to fake remorse for his wife’s kidnapping when he is on the phone with his father-in-law.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
