resolve and make them prove their worth. Heroes cant continue the quest without getting past the threshold guardian. 4. Read through the four myths discussed. Choose one of the myths and retell in the myth in your own words. a. The story of Arthur. A long time ago there was a king, Uther Pendragon, who tricked and had a child with Irgraine out of wedlock. He had his son, Arthur, be raised by Merlin the wizard. Merlin made the knights of the round table. Upon Uther’s death, the knights didn’t know
who would take his place. Merlin put a sword in stone and said that whoever could pull it out would be the rightful king. All tried and failed. Arthur happens upon the sword one day and pulls it out of the rock. He became king of Camelot. He then married Guinevere, which Merlin warned against because Guinevere was in love with Sir Lancelot, a knight of the round table. Arthur caught the two of them and chased off to defeat Lancelot. While he was gone, Arthurs’ nephew, Mordred, steals the crown. When Arthur returned there was a huge battle where many knights died and Arthur was badly wounded. He went to Avalon to heal and never came back. 5.Using the myth that you just retold, what archetypes exist in the myth?
