The Magnet Recognition Program designates organizations worldwide where nursing leaders successfully align their nursing strategic goals to improve the organization’s patient outcomes. The Magnet Recognition Program provides a roadmap to nursing excellence, which benefits the whole of an organization. To nurses, Magnet Recognition means education and development through every career stage, which leads to greater autonomy at the bedside. Running head: ESSENTIALS OF ADVANCED NURSING PRACTICE 11 Strengths The strength of the organization Eskenazi Health is their staff. Their mission with service continues to support the strengths. Some of the strengths to mention would include the systems that have been put into place to support patient safety including; employee education, electronic health records, safety huddles, readiness rounding, Studer, patient safety advisory councils, and working on Magnet status. Jennifer shared that her role supports quality improvement efforts for teaching and to improve educational programs as we partner with the Indiana School of Nurses. Weakness Eskenazi Health offers a matrix reporting structure within the organization- taking everyone as a financial risk. The major opportunities for improvement facing the organizations is that with the nurses having the ability to trust and communicate effectively. In today's dramatically restructured healthcare work environments, organizational trust is an increasingly important element in determining employee performance and commitment to the organization[ CITATION Hea00 \l 1033 ]. Embree shared that within her experiences the matrix reporting structure is one that the employee and the patients are most affected by. The organizational communication is what suffers the most as one leadership role does not know what the other leadership role is doing. This may lead to a financial risk if not properly reviewed [ CITATION Jen18 \l 1033 ]. Within this practice the clinical staff i.e. nurses are hearing two to three different messages as it relates to best practice and patient care. The communication is broken to a point of there is a continued level of frustration that develops for those who are advanced in their clinical practice. All the missed or non-communication reporting ultimately affects the outcomes with patient care. Although the matrix reporting structure has been shown to be beneficial to some populations of
