new labs. We kindly ask you to be understanding during this process, and we will do the same. We hope to make this a very good experience for you, with interesting and relevant content you can actually apply to real problems, especially in fourth year and in the workplace. General Course Policies Safety Students must be aware of and adhere to all MIE and campus safety policies. They should also note the following: During lab sessions, obey all TA instructions. Be aware of relevant safety rules, including evacuation plans, fire and other emergency procedures, and lab-specific safety instructions. Do not take any actions that may endanger you, other students or instructors, or other‟s property. Access to the lab space and Makerspace requires the MIE health and safety (H&S) course be completed. Access to the Makerspace in particular requires additional training; please contact the instructor early. Students who have not completed the MIE H&S course will be barred from labs until it is complete. Should students attempt to circumvent H&S training, or otherwise knowingly violate safety rules or procedures, academic sanctions will apply up to and including removal from the course. Lecture and Tutorial Notes The lectures will use very few Powerpoint slides most information comes from hand-written examples. This course binder will contain schematics and space to write down all notes and examples from class. You are responsible for completing these notes in particular, you should take the time to read the pre-reading before class; it will make the lectures much more relevant. Content you are responsible for in your studies is also clearly marked. I will not be posting or providing fully completed notes. In the case of absence, it is highly recommended to find a classmate to obtain any missed notes. Taking pictures of the board is allowed, but very much not recommended it really misses the point of going to the lectures. Plagiarism and Conduct All students are expected to behave as professional engineers, and follow the rules of conduct outlined in your student handbook. All work is carefully checked for plagiarism, and exams will be carefully monitored by the TAs and instructor. Cheating and plagiarism are serious academic offenses, and will be dealt with according to university policy. Late Hand-ins Please follow the hand-in schedule whenever possible. Late hand-ins without a valid petition will be penalized 20% per school day after the time they are due, no exceptions . It is your responsibility to allow reasonable buffer time for minor disruptions we do not recommend waiting until minutes before midnight to submit material on Blackboard, for instance. Work cannot be accepted more than five school days after the hand-in deadline, or after solutions are posted, even in cases where a valid petition may be possible. For most valid petitions, weight will be re-assigned to other assignments to compensate for a missed deliverable. In all cases, a valid petition is needed for any accommodation; otherwise the late penalty will apply.

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
