If we see that Burger King cannot begin putting resources towards the right things, there are some prominent problems that will arise for Burger King. The fast food industry has been around since 1921, when the first McDonald’s opened 13 . This shows that customers will always arise in businesses. The competitors are not waiting for Burger King to catch up, and will not hesitate to grab new opportunities that arise. Burger King is a very large company, being right behind McDonald’s and SubWay as the third biggest fast-food chain in North America currently. For Burger King to get the number one spot, they must simplify operations to secure the position of being on top. If they cannot do this, Burger King will inevitably die off. Here you can see some possible problems that can arise from Burger King’s mishaps The first issue that will arise is that Burger King may not succeed in having enough company revenue to be able to sustain itself. When Burger King will continue to conduct business throughout the years, they will find more difficulty dealing with the increasing amount of competitors in the market. Consumer tastes also change, which can be a big issue for Burger King. As the public becomes more health conscious and aware of their eating decisions, Burger King will find that it may become increasingly unpopular. Companies must always be going where the market goes, and adapting whenever necessary without hesitation. This can refer to Burger King needing to begin to embrace technology, and incorporate that into their entire restaurant experience like how companies like McDonald’s have been very successful doing. Staying the same is dangerous for a restaurant like Burger King, as the adaptable restaurants will always surpass Burger King if Burger King chooses to remain stagnant. If they do not realize that they must be constantly adapting to the market, Burger King’s revenue will start to decrease. Another rising issue for Burger King is that they will find themselves in a crisis

which they may not have the capacity to solve. We spoke about when the public had a freakout over a customer reportedly finding a human finger in a cup of chili and posting it online, spreading viral for everyone to see. Some described Burger King’s experience for handling this similar to a ‘brain fart’ where they did not react fast enough to solving and addressing this event to the public. The CEO of the Beattie Tartan crisis management firm said this in response to the event, and noted how Burger King was simply not equipped to deal with this, and in return lost a lot of potential revenue from scaring away future customers 14 . We see now that Burger King has had past issues with dealing with potential crisis’ and need to concentrate on avoiding this in the future. If we were to judge Burger King’s crisis management skills with precedent, one might say they are quite badly equipped in this aspect. This is a very dangerous and volatile situation for Burger King to be in, as the next time a problem like this will arise, which is
