Since I am currently working on my masters in accounting, the part where the author talked about accounting professionals stuck out to me. She states that "It has been found that up to 80% of work time is actually spent in communication rather than in working with numbers" (Weinclaw, 2013). Although I have had little hands on experience in the accounting field, the accountants that I have talked to have made it clear that having strong interpersonal and communicative skills are pertinent when conducting business with a client. When I was teaching in Tanzania, I found out quickly that I had to find a way to convey the information correctly to my students. Even though it was an english medium school, I had to be picky about the jargon that I used because my typical english phrases would not work well with the students. However, once I would talk to the other teachers, I would use more complex phrases due to the fact that they could understand me better.
