Throughtout this chapter, we are shown the different stages of early progress, as well as what these progressive steps mean to different groups of people around the world. The chapter details that when the population in rural areas had increased, so did the need for food. The innovation of technology which was created to produce the food efficiently, was what required the mass amount of work, contradicting the main focus of technology, alleviating the work (Robbins, 2016, p. 69). It was with these farmlands, that came factory models, causing serious risks to the environment and imposing many societal issues. Through the invention of the “putting out system”, ultimately resuting into a factory system led some women and young children into labourers (Robbins, 2016, p. 73). Not only that, but one of the largest examples of the hienderance of progress for other cultures, is the textile industry. In
